Images of Pepsi cans and bottles
[edit]- File:Pepsiicecucumberbottle.jpg
- File:Pepsi.png
- File:Pepsi.jpg
- File:Pepsi Light.JPG
- File:Pepsi Bottle In Mexico.jpg
- File:2009 Pepsi label.jpg
- File:2009 Pepsi Bottle.jpeg
- File:Pepsi light can.jpg
- File:Pepsi '80s.jpg
- File:Coca Cola & Pepsi cans of Laos.jpg
- File:2010-05-30 Pepsi Throwback 355 mL.jpg
All of these images have been taken to illustrate the designs on the containers. As these are copyrighted, that would make these images derivative works of the copyrighted materials, and thus out of scope at Commons. Whether they are permissible under fair use on local Wikipedias is an entirely different matter. SchuminWeb (Talk) 17:21, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- This would be easier with separate nominations. Anyway, applying the usual test to each case: Keep File:Pepsiicecucumberbottle.jpg: utilitarian bottle, whole, making the label de minimis per the SKYY Spirits decision. Delete File:Pepsi.png: copyvio because this modified version of the photo is offered by its author under a CC-by-2.5 license, while the original photo is offered under a CC-by-sa-2.0 license. Keep File:Pepsi.jpg: utilitarian bottle, whole. Delete File:Pepsi Light.JPG: partial shot of bottle. Keep File:Pepsi Bottle In Mexico.jpg: utilitarian bottle, whole. Delete File:2009 Pepsi label.jpg: because the image has been cropped to show merely the label. Keep File:2009 Pepsi Bottle.jpeg: utilitarian bottle, whole. Comment: No opinion for now on the 4 images of cans. -- Asclepias (talk) 22:19, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Better get the Coke ones too. Other photos of brand name products are in Commons so theres a wide scope of photos to remove. FotoPhest (talk) 03:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- I intend on addressing the Coke ones as well, but later. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:29, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Questions for Asclepias:
- File:Pepsiicecucumberbottle.jpg: How is this de minimis, when the label is central to understanding the photograph? Otherwise, you just have a bottle of green liquid. Remember that this is not Wikipedia - there is no fair use on Commons. Thus while there may be a fair use justification on a Wikipedia project, it won't work on Commons.
- File:Pepsi.jpg, File:Pepsi Bottle In Mexico.jpg, and File:2009 Pepsi Bottle.jpeg: If the objective is to show a utilitarian bottle, why not remove, obscure, or digitally remove the label, so that the focus is only on the bottle?
- Would like to know what you think about this. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:37, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
